The Heatworks MODEL 1 from ISI Technology.

Charleston-based ISI Technology is set to redefine the way the world heats and uses water.

This week, ISI Technology presented its ground-breaking product, the Heatworks MODEL 1, at the TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield competition in New York City.

The Heatworks MODEL 1 is the world’s first fully electric water heater and its creators believe the product will create a mindshift in the industry. This football-sized unit provides immediate, safe, infinite hot water and can be used in residential, as well as commercial buildings.

GreenBy3, which is all about creating a mindshift in our industry had the chance to meet with ISI Technology last week ahead of their trip to New York City.

We learned the Heatworks MODEL 1:

  • Provides immediate, safe, infinite hot water
  • Reduces energy costs by 40% and water costs by 10%
  • Offers unparalleled performance, reliability and flexibility
  • Significantly improves existing water heater systems
  • Is long-lasting and requires no maintenance
  • Has a Wi-Fi option so you can manage the unit from your smart phone

ISI’s initial offering, the Heatworks MODEL 1, was built small enough so that it could easily be installed under a sink or behind a shower unit to produce instant hot water. It can also be installed next to an existing hot water heater to improve its performance. ISI Technology is designing future models that will have a larger capacity to provide hot water for larger applications, such as an entire house.

This is just a little bit of what we learned about the Heatworks MODEL 1, and we are really excited about this product for a couple of reasons. ISI Technology is an extremely innovative company and the product itself offers an eco-friendly alternative to the inefficient way we’ve been heating water for decades. (How much water did you waste this morning while waiting for your water to heat up in the shower?)

Another reason is that GreenBy3 is always looking for new and better products to present to our clients and the project team. When GreenBy3 is involved in a construction or renovation project with our client, we’re not just thinking about how to improve the day-to-day management of our client’s construction project. We’re thinking long-term and consider what products and resources are available today that will keep building maintenance and operations economical and ecological for our client, our community and our environment.
